2021 Audi Q5 Quattro: Plug-In Hybrid Might Be the Best Q5

2021 Audi Q5 Quattro

Over time, the crossover has become one of the most popular vehicle segments in America, and sales of the compact premium crossover Audi Q5 have increased in line with the best-selling model of the German brand.

For the 2022 model year, Audi is giving the exterior of the Q5 a design update and a new plug-in hybrid electric version for the US market.

The official model name is the 2022 Audi Q5 55 TFSI e Quattro, but we prefer the Q5 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid-Electric Vehicle) or just the plug-in Q5 to keep things tidy.

Starting at the US $ 52,995, the PHEV version of Audi’s compact luxury crossover ranks between the Q5 45 TFSI Regular for US $ 44,395 and the performance-oriented SQ5 for US $ 53,995.

Powertrain aside, all of the Q5’s 2021 will get a more angular design for their headlights and front and rear bumpers, as well as an updated grille that better matches the brand’s newer models.

The clean effect combines the design elements of the Q5 better than ever and gives it a fresh, but less aggressive aura when parking on the roadside.

2021 Audi Q5 Engine, Transmission, and Power

2021 Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid powertrain 2021 combines a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor positioned between the engine and a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission for a combined total system output of 349 hp and 369 lb-ft Torque.

With seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard and Quattro all-wheel drive, the Q5 PHEV should, according to Audi, reach 60 miles per hour in a 5.0-second fleet – just 0.3 seconds slower than the SQ5 with its 349 hp 3.0 -Liter Turbo V 6.

Even with the additional 550 pounds of battery mass and the hybrid engine, the Q5 55 TFSI e is fast for its segment.

As a lithium-ion battery with 14.1 kWh, the plug-in Q5 has an electric range of only 30 km and has a combined EPA classification of 50 MPGe for the electric/gas mode and 27 MPG in combination with a discharged battery.

Interior and Comfort The 2021 Audi Q5

Over time, Audi has built a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the best interiors in the automotive industry.

The black leather of our test car with decorative stitching in rock gray, accentuated with natural inlays made of birch wood in gray-brown, creates an inviting atmosphere.

The Audi Virtual Cockpit is also one of the best digital displays on offer, and the display options in the Q5 plug-in contain all the information you need on energy consumption. The new Audi MMI is one of the best entertainment and has easy data access.

Audi Q5 Design For look in 2021

2021 Audi Q5

Audi has redesigned the Q5 for the 2018 model year, adding stylistic elements from the larger Q7 sibling, including the single-frame grille flanked by stylish LED headlights.

For 2021, the look was adapted to the brand’s new SUV design language with a thinner and wider octagonal single-frame grille and higher side air inlets with sporty trapezoidal inserts.

The profile shows newly designed side skirts for a lighter look, at the rear new decorative elements connect the taillights and new horizontal diffuser inserts.

With electricity the power

2021 Audi Q5

When fully charged, the Q5 Plug-In works as an electric vehicle and offers almost 32 km of quiet and steady electric range with the added benefit of a petrol engine that is always on when additional power or range is required.

Unfortunately, the added weight of the plug-in Q5 can’t be ignored – this crossover weighs 540 pounds more than the standard Q5 and 331 pounds more than the high-performance Audi Q5 – but it’s a fair compromise.

When fully charged, the plug-in Audi Q5 can function as a fully electric vehicle, with the full power of the hybrid system always available.
