2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review: Price, and Release Date

Source: cdn.carbuzz.com

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E received an Editors’ Choice award because it combines popular aspects of the past and present in a very appealing package that bodes well for the future of electric cars.

Ford pairing the iconic nameplate with an in-demand body style is smart marketing, even if it appears sacrilegious that he would call a crossover EV a Mustang.

The Mach-E boasts a handsomely equipped interior that’s crowded with the most recent technology, in addition to its attention-grabbing design.

It also comes equipped with convenient storage solutions, a large backseat, and plenty of cargo space. The Mustang’s electrified version is quick and agile when you get behind the wheel.

The quickest model hits 60 mph in 3.7 seconds (faster than a Mustang Mach 1) and the furthest models are expected to travel more than 300 miles on a charge. The 2022 Mustang Mach-E is a transcendent EV because of all of the above.

What’s New for 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E?

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, which won our first EV of the Year honor, has slightly more usable battery capacity and should improve its actual-world range entering its second model year.

All-wheel drive is now available on the California 1, and front seats are heated as standard equipment. A black-painted roof is also standard on the GT model.

The Mach-E is now available as the Ice White Edition, which is an all-white special edition comparable to the Mustang pony car.

Tri-coat Star White metallic paint and Oxford White details like the 19-inch wheels and exterior badges are only available on the Premium trim level and are standard features.

Models other than the GT are now available in bright Grabber Blue and Cyber Orange paint colors.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Price

With a base price of $49,875 for the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E premium model, we believe the Mach-E is the best buy.

With a driving range of 305 miles when combined with the optional extra-range battery and rear-wheel drive, we opted for the all-wheel-drive version since it lowers the true range to 270 miles.

In comparison to the base model, Mach-E Premium offers quicker charging, 19-inch alloy wheels, a Band & Olufsen sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a power liftgate.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The 2022 Mustang Mach-E comes with either a standard 70.0-kWh battery or a more powerful 91.0-kWh battery. These power a battery-operated electric motor that is mounted on the rear or both axles.

The motors combine to produce 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque on the sporty GT and GT Performance variants, resulting in all-wheel drive.

Our evaluation of the GT Performance variant revealed that it reached 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, but not fully.

Between 266 and 346 horsepower and 317 and 428 pound-feet are produced by less powerful models.

The Mach-E comes standard with adaptive dampers to adjust ride firmness, and it rides on wheels that range in size from 18 to 20 inches.

The version we sampled was a sporty, all-wheel-drive crossover that outperformed other crossovers in terms of acceleration and driving pleasure.

The Mach-E, on the other hand, shouldn’t be as exciting as the conventional Mustang for drivers. It had a very smooth ride and was quite quiet during the operation.

Mustang Mach-E Range, Charging, and Battery Life

mustang mach-e range

Although the EPA-estimated range of the 2022 Mustang Mach-E is between 211 and 305 miles, it isn’t nearly as exceptional as the rangiest Tesla vehicles.

Fast charging is also available on all models. With a 120-volt outlet, a Mach-E can add 30 miles of range each night and 80 percent of battery life each night with a 240-volt outlet. Every Mach-E comes with a Ford mobile charger.

With the capacity to replenish 32 miles per hour and recharge the battery overnight, a Ford charge station may also be ordered online and installed by certified electricians.

Fuel Economy

With a 305-mile EPA-estimated range, the Mustang Mach-E with rear-wheel drive is the range-topping model.

The total driving range of the all-wheel-drive version with the bigger battery is estimated to be 270 miles. Depending on the model and equipment, however, there is a greater range of options.

On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our comprehensive testing process, the Mach-E with the bigger battery we tested lasted 250 miles on a single charge.

We estimate that it will add around 8 miles of real-world highway range based on the 2022 capacity expansion.

Interior

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a large cargo and passenger capacity due to the fact that its battery is beneath the vehicle’s floor. The Mach-E has little in common with a normal Mustang on the inside, unlike its exterior.

It has a beautiful digital gauge cluster that is centered on a huge vertically mounted touchscreen, and it has a streamlined dashboard.

A purse or other items may be stored between the front-seat passenger’s thanks to a flip-up armrest on the center console.

Customizable ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, a panoramic roof, and more are just a few of the slick features available.

The front trunk is fashioned of washable, drainage-friendly plastic, making it possible to store ice and grubby objects.

With the back seats folded, the Mach-E has a total cargo capacity of 29 cubic feet behind them.

Infotainment

The next-generation SYNC infotainment system from Ford features machine learning, which can currently accommodate three driving profiles and one guest.

The Mustang Mach-E’s system is intuitive to use since it runs on a vertically positioned 15.5-inch touchscreen that provides access to the system’s numerous apps and features.

In the future, Ford promises to provide over-the-air upgrades that will enhance the technology and introduce new information.

Among the car’s features are Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a dedicated Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bang & Olufsen audio.

Safety

With a range of driver-assistance features, the Mustang Mach-E is offered in 2022. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) both have websites that can provide more information about Mach-E’s crash-test results.

Warranty

Ford’s current warranty on parts and engines is competitive, but not particularly flashy. In addition, Mach-E’s electrical components are expected to be covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, but free maintenance isn’t provided.

  • A limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles
  • The powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Electrical components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles
  • No complimentary scheduled maintenance

Value

Is the Mustang Mach-E a good value? Unlike Tesla, Ford’s EV credits have not yet expired, making the Mach-E a very appealing offer since it does not yet have a discount.

The cabin is beautifully trimmed in a style that feels reminiscent of Scandinavian design, and the build quality feels solid overall.

You may believe you’re in a Lincoln if it weren’t for the normal Ford switchgear on the steering wheel and doors. In comparison to luxury brands, Ford’s warranty is less comprehensive, but it isn’t far off.

Bumper-to-bumper coverage is for three years/36,000 miles, whereas the powertrain is covered for five years/60,000 miles.

The original battery capacity is retained for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Final Verdict

It’s an SUV, as you might expect. The Ford Mach-E is an electric car. As we heard Ford was developing an electric Mustang CUV, we had no idea what to expect, but we’re stoked it exists.

The Mach-E GT drives and appears like a vehicle of the future, with engaging driving performance, no tailpipe emissions, and over-the-air software updates on a huge center touchscreen.
