2022 BMW X3 Will Be Launched This Year

2022 bmw x3

When launched, the 2022 BMW X3 will compete with rivals such as the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport, and the Volvo XC60.

Beyond bringing luxury and practicality, the BMW X3 2022 SUV channels a sports sedan from BMW’s past to bring driving pleasure into the equation.

Its balanced chassis and finely tuned steering make it a very willing partner on winding roads, and the two available turbocharged powertrains “Either four or Six cylinders” deliver plenty of power.

The cabin of the BMW X3 is comfortable and classy if the design is restrained. It’s a great place to spend some time, although some of its competitors, including the Mercedes-Benz GLC class and Volvo XC60, beat it in style.

BMW has packed a lot of technology into the X3, including two digital dashboard displays, as well as various driver assistance features.

Overall, the X3 is complete, but its agile handling and bold turbo engine make it one of our favorite BMW and an Editor Choice winner for 2022.

The BMW X3 received a styling refresh for 2022, which includes a revised grille, new headlights and taillights, updated front and rear bumpers, new wheel designs, and revised exhaust tips.

The X3 base is now available with the M Sport styling package, which dresses it up to resemble the more racing M40i model.

Speaking of the M40i, it gets a 48-volt hybrid system for 2022, but its combined output remains the same as the 2021 model at 382 hp.

The plug-in hybrid xDrive30e has been discontinued. Inside, the center console has been revised and some of the secondary controls have been repositioned.

While a 10.3-inch infotainment screen and matching digital display screen are still standard, BMW is now offering a 12.3-inch upgrade for both.

How much does a BMW X3 cost?

The price of the BMW X3 starts at $43,000, placing it above the luxury compact SUV class. Cheaper alternatives in this segment are the Acura RDX, Lexus NX, and Infiniti QX50.

The price of the X3 increases to $56,600 for the sportier M40i model and $76,900 for the high-performance X3 M Competition variant.

Regardless of the exact performance, all BMW engines radiate the same robust and cultivated character. While the M40i’s 382hp six-cylinder propels it to 60mph in 4.4 seconds, we’d advise buyers to stick with the stock 248hp four-cylinder, which is much more powerful.

The supercharged four cylinders work in tandem with the excellent eight-speed automatic to ease traffic and suck fuel on the highway.

The entry-level X3 sDrive30i only drives the rear wheels. That won’t be a problem for anyone living in the sunbelt, but buyers in the snowy states will want to upgrade to the all-wheel-drive xDrive30i model.

What engine is in BMW X3?

With a 248 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood, the rear-wheel-drive sDrive30i and all-wheel-drive xDrive30i offer enough power to comfortably handle almost any traffic situation, but they’re hardly encouraging. On our test track, the xDrive 30i took 6.2 seconds to hit 60 mph, we didn’t test the sDrive30i model.

The Porsche Macan S and Audi Q5 were both faster in our tests – the Porsche was significantly faster. Those looking for a performance-oriented crossover will do better with the X3 M40i.

The 382hp 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six delivers nearly robust performance, beating all but the most powerful versions of the Macan Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 from zero to 60mph by 4.4 seconds.

BMW X3 still feels more competent than some of the current sedans. It’s a lot of fun to drive and willing to turn corners better than expected, even if it doesn’t quite offer the Tiger’s level of sportiness.

The ride quality is perfectly balanced with enough firmness for an inspired feel without creating a bumpy ride on bumpy road surfaces. Our test vehicles featured our highly recommended option, adaptive suspension.

It’s called Dynamic Damper Control and extends the xDrive30i to include the Comfort, Sport, and Eco Pro driving modes. M adaptive suspension, available for the M40i, can reduce suspension by 0.4 inches.

What will the 2022 BMW X3 look like?

The 2022 BMW X3 features a redesigned exterior with aerodynamic bumpers, new headlight and taillight designs, as well as a new color palette including Frozen Portimao Blue Metallic.

Inside, a 12.3-inch central information screen, M View display mode, and a new shifter design ensure that driving performance is paramount.

Is the 2022 BMW X3 worth buying?

As well as bringing luxury and practicality, the 2022 BMW X3 SUV channels a sports sedan from BMW’s past to bring driving fun into the equation.

Overall, the BMW X3 is complete, but its agile handling and bold turbocharged engine make it one of our favorite BMWs and an Editors’ Choice winner for 2022.
