Mazda unveiled its newest SUV, the Mazda CX-70, at the 2022 New York Auto Show. The company says this is one of three new SUVs joining the lineup by the end of 2023.
The CX-70 will slot between the Mazda CX-50 compact and the Mazda CX-90 three-row as a midsize five-passenger entry.
The automaker says it will be built on a new large vehicle architecture which will be RWD based but also work with AWD.
The CX-70 looks to be about 8 inches shorter than the 2019 Toyota 4Runner in length (192 inches), and about 2 inches longer in width (71 inches).
With a wheelbase that’s 4 inches shorter than the 2020 Honda CRV (107 inches) yet 3 inches wider (72), this should provide more space for those rear seats.
Inside, we can see two fewer front seats than most crossovers: Mazda says there are only two rows of seats that can fit up to five passengers.
So we’re not sure if they’re really trying to cut down on passenger count or just providing some more legroom in the back. It also features LED headlights and taillights, as well as 19 alloy wheels.
