Lincoln Navigator has been one of our favorite large luxury SUVs since its redesign in 2018. With a luxurious interior, great passenger comfort, plenty of luxury features, and a terrifying maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds. The navigator is so impressive that we didn’t hesitate to compare it to the more expensive SUVs from Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover. Then there’s the Navigator’s longtime rival, the Escalade.
The Lincoln Navigator has been redesigned for 2021 and offers even more convenience and functionality from the latest technology, with a makeover, these two luxury home gadgets are closer than ever. The basic navigator is hard to miss, but we think some of the features in Backup make it worth the extra money. For example, a surround-view parking camera system with full visibility and adaptive cruise control are very useful additions. Then there is also a large panoramic sunroof as standard in this trim level. You should also opt for a backup reservation if you wish to unlock the Navigator’s maximum crane capacity via the Heavy Duty crane package.
The 2021 Lincoln Navigator is available in three trim levels: Base, Reserve, and Black Label. Each is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine (450 horsepower, 500 lb-ft of torque) and comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
All Lincoln Navigator 2021 trims can be had as a long-wheelbase or L model. At about 25 inches long, this will expand passenger and cargo capacity, and will also increase the fuel tank capacity from 23 to 27 gallons.
Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional on most models. The exception is the Lincoln Navigator Black Label wheelbase with regular wheels, which comes standard with all-wheel drive.

Interior Lincoln Navigator
The inside of the Interior Lincoln Navigator is just amazing. This is the best American luxury car I’ve ever driven, and as luxurious as what you can find at a Mercedes dealer. This one is carrying the “objective” Black Label theme which I think should reflect the greatness of France.
But I don’t need a marketing degree to appreciate this stunning red leather interior that matches the similarly colored trim lines on the dashboard, doors, and center console. While the Cadillac Escalade goes to great lengths to hide the parts bin tech (you’ll find steering wheel buttons like half of GM’s cars), every part of the Navigator feels special, from the metal rocker switches on the steering wheel to the knurled volume buttons in the center console. Almost every surface is upholstered or covered with leather.
To be honest, the interior of the Navigator 2021 is so well thought out that the only noticeable flaws are the silly little things that most people are unlikely to notice. The frame of the infotainment screen is very large. The cup holder is very small. The chair massagers are louder than the competition. The beacon’s glow stick was moving too quietly, so I blinked three times. Such stupid little things.
One of the things Lincoln should be proud of is the engine under the hood. The same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 you find in the Ford Expedition and F-150, and that’s a peach. With 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, the Navigator never gives up on the desire to move forward as six pots provide a boost of available torque that makes the entire shebang incredibly tangy to the touch.
The 10-speed automatic transmission moves smoothly through the gears. Under most operating conditions, the 2021 Navigator will ride absolutely smoothly, with the only real ride quality issues being on sharp bumps where you get a body jolt that was only made worse on my testers thanks to its wheel 22-inch size.
Sure, you can drive it like a monster, but the sat nav is best when treated like there are three VIPs in the back. Slowly step on the accelerator and use a well-adjusted brake pedal and you will be rewarded with a smooth operation. His body-on-frame foundation also gives him some solid skills; Check the box for the heavy-duty crane package and you can pull 8,700 pounds.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Navigator in-car technology starts in the center of the dash with a 10-inch touchscreen running the latest version of Ford Sync software. The on-screen icons are easy to read at a glance and Ford’s telematics kit is easy to use, but you can always rely on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for a smartphone-style experience.
In addition to the middle screen, there is also a 12-inch display that has a minimalist layout that I really like and only shows the most relevant information. The heads-up display further reduces distractions. When it comes to charging, there are USB ports in every row, with both USB-A and USB-C sockets serving the primary user. The Navigator doesn’t have the great widescreen experience of the Cadillac Escalade, but it’s still a great setup.
On the side of the automotive industry that is adjacent to the truck, the same safety systems are no longer missing as in the case of cars includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability costs $ 695 for the lower trim levels but becomes standard as it ranks. Of course, the Escalade could improve the navigator here with Super Cruise driver assistance technology.
Hopefully, the Lincoln Navigator will not be a budget-friendly means of transportation in 2021. The starting price of $ 77,840 (including $ 1,295 for travel destinations) only slides north when options are considered. This Black Label model comes complete with the equipment, and its $ 106,115 price tag is pretty expensive until you find that a similarly powered Mercedes-Benz GLS580 starts pretty much in the six-figure range.
If you are looking for sheer luxury (and a bit of performance), the Navigator is at the top of a huge pile of luxury SUVs. In terms of comfort, the Mercedes GLS-Class is probably the closest competitor with great driving characteristics.
Those looking for the latest in driving technology should check out the Cadillac Escalade with Super Cruise. Other body-on-frame competitors are the Infiniti QX80 and Lexus LX 570, both of which are a bit old under the revamped exterior. There’s also the Range Rover if you want to leave out the third row and add the ability to drive through puddles nearly 3 feet tall. Hey you never know
Against the competition or not, the Lincoln Navigator 2021 is a standout SUV. Its black label appointments bring an impressive level of luxury to the table, while the foundation gives it a lot of performance, be it for the interior or for towing. It’s a city that shines on top of a hill, a testament to the wealth and power that makes you feel important the moment you get behind the wheel.
