Sylvester Stallone was born in New York City on July 6, 1946, to Frank Stallone Sr., of Italian descent, and Jacqueline Labofish, who was Jewish.
His mother named him after Sylvester Larkin, the character in her favorite soap opera, The Brighter Day.
During his early life, he lived with his parents at their home in Hell’s Kitchen while they worked struggling to make ends meet and keep food on the table.
