2019 Mazda CX 5 Review – The Mazda CX 5 2019 stands out from the crowd with its distinctive design and engaging driving dynamics. The Mazda appears to be more costly than it really is, which adds to its appeal.

All-wheel drive is available, and a powerful turbocharged or diesel-powered engine is optional. A fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive is standard.

It’s a step above its price-point competitors because of its sumptuous interior, and it comes equipped with a slew of driver-assistance features.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 isn’t the greatest vehicle in any metric, based solely on numbers. However, it is the smallest crossover that has the most appealing appearance and driving characteristics.

What’s New for the 2019 Mazda CX-05?

The Mazda CX 5 2019 will have its first-ever turbocharged engine, as well as a new top-of-the-line model.

The previous announcement was a criticism of Mazda’s limited powertrain choices, so this one is the most important.

The Mazda CX-5 is now available with an option for a 250-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and only all-wheel drive on the top two variants is equipped with it.

Among the new vehicles available are the Signature variant, which features premium wood and chrome accents throughout, ambient interior lighting, brown leather upholstery, unique exterior parts, and a 360-degree camera system.

The latest version of the G-vectoring Control Plus system, which we’ve previously examined, is standard on every 2019 Mazda CX-5.

It features a revised suspension and steering. Infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available.

While it is only available in the most expensive trim and is less powerful than the turbocharged engine, a diesel four-cylinder will eventually be added to the lineup.

The average list price of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 is $25,395, according to listings. Prices vary depending on the condition, mileage, and features of the car, ranging from $25,395 to $37,935.

Engine Performance

When leaving stoplights or rushing around town, the Mazda CX-5’s standard 187-hp four-cylinder engine provides excellent throttle response, making it seem quicker than it really is.

The non-turbocharged engine feels underpowered at faster speeds, such as when attempting to pass or merge onto the highway.

We tested a 250-horsepower turbocharged variation, which accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and from 50 to 70 mph in 4.6 seconds.

The turbo engine is only available with all-wheel drive, while the six-speed automatic transmission is matched with a snappy.

Also, the diesel 2.2-liter four-cylinder (known as Skyactiv-D) is only available with all-wheel drive and is standard on the most expensive Signature variant for 2019.

In comparison to the gas-fed turbocharged engine, the diesel produces 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel Economy

In comparison to rivals with comparable power, the Mazda CX-5 has average EPA ratings. The Mazda was the only one among our group of vehicles to exceed its EPA highway rating.

The 32 mpg achieved by the all-wheel-drive, non-turbocharged variant matched the Honda CR-V we tested. The CX-5’s performance was improved by 1 mpg by choosing front-wheel drive instead of turbo.

We also tested a CX-5 with the optional turbocharged four-cylinder and standard all-wheel drive; it achieved 30 miles per gallon on our 200-mile highway fuel economy test, 3 miles better than its EPA rating.

We have not yet tested the diesel model, which is expected to get 27 mpg city and 30 mpg highway by the EPA.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Space

You may think you’ve been kidnapped by Audi or Mercedes owners if you wake up inside the top-tier CX-5 models. It has a really upscale feel because of its first-rate materials and layout.

The well-crafted steering wheel is positioned in front of the driver, not set at a slight angle, and all of the front-seat armrests are at the same height for optimum convenience.

The floor-mounted accelerator pedal feels better than the more conventional version that is hung above the floor.

Every CX-5 comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen that floats above the dashboard like a tablet. The front seats include a basic user interface and rotary controls that are simple to use.

Sadly, the screen’s short width and outdated user interface are inferior to those of competitors. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on lower-cost automobiles, but they are not.

Despite the fact that it comes with a touch screen, you’ll have to use the console-mounted rotary dial and dashboard buttons while driving the SUV. This may be a task for people who want to utilize a touch screen to control cabin functions.

We suggest making a stretch to earn the Grand Touring Reserve. The new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides the CX-5 with oomph is the most premium feature of all, so it’s costly but you get a great selection of superior features.

If the trim is beyond your budget, the Touring trim’s sensible combination of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 value, usefulness, and safety gadgets may suffice.
