Mazda CX 5 2020 Review – Small crossover SUVs are clearly preferred by vehicle purchasers. They’re reasonably priced, and they provide convenience, security, usefulness, and variety.
SUVs, on the other hand, are not particularly attractive in the majority of cases. In 2020, the Mazda CX-5 stands out as a notable exception.
In contrast to rivals’ utilitarian looks, the Mazda CX 5 2020 has a sleek interior and exterior design. Those who want more performance and a more confident on-road feel will appreciate it since it’s also more engaging and sporty to drive.
The CX-5 is tied with the Honda CR-V, the CR-V offers more comfort than the Mazda, but it isn’t as exciting or possibly as quick.
The CX-5 is held back from the top spot by its underpowered base engine, inferior rear legroom, and decreased cargo capacity.
It is more likely that these downsides will be minor enough to disqualify it. This SUV is outstanding, and it should be compared to any other vehicle.

What’s New for Mazda CX 5 2020?
For the 2020 model year, Mazda has only made minor modifications to the CX-5. Automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and more are now standard across the i-Activsense suite of driver-assistance features.
We anticipate that the new Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback, as well as Mazda’s newly revised fonts on interior switches and exterior badges, will have a new key fob that matches. A new 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display is standard on Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models.
Mazda CX 5 2020 Price

The Sport model comes well-equipped and has a value-oriented price tag, while the Signature model, while expensive, offers class-above luxury that’s difficult to fault.
A six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and passive keyless entry are all features of the Touring model that we like.
Except for the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature, which come standard with all-wheel drive, it adds $1400 to all models.
The Mazda CX-5’s four-cylinder standard 187-hp engine has a fantastic throttle response when driving away from stoplights or hurriedly around town, giving it the appearance of being quicker than it is.
When driving at faster speeds, such as attempting to pass or merge onto the highway, it feels underpowered.
The turbocharged 250-horsepower version we tested accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, which was much quicker than the non-turbocharged version.
The turbo engine is coupled with a quick six-speed automatic transmission, and it can only be ordered with all-wheel drive.
Similarly, only the most costly Signature variant comes equipped with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder (known as Skyactiv-D) that solely supports all-wheel drive.
To enjoy or appreciate the CX-5, you don’t have to drive it hard. Of course, it’s a fantastic Sunday cruise because of its precise steering and composed cornering.
However, it absorbs bumps without drama and has the ride quality of crossovers that cost twice as much.
This harmonic balance of dynamics is impossible to match by its rivals. There is little road noise, the pavement flaws aren’t widespread, and the dampening isn’t excessive or floaty.
On the other hand, the Mazda shines on twisty roads. Because of the electrical assistance, the steering is enjoyable.
When you press the brakes on the Signature car we drove, you get a reassuring brake pedal feel that operates immediately and isn’t too sensitive.
The Mazda CX 5 2020 has average EPA ratings when compared to automobiles with similar power. The Mazda, on the other hand, was the only vehicle to outscore its EPA highway rating.
The all-wheel-drive, non-turbocharged Honda CR-V achieved 32 mpg during our test driving. The non-turbo front-drive engine in the CX-5 improves fuel economy by 1 mpg.
We also drove a CX-5 with the standard all-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine; it achieved 30 mpg on our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test, which was 3 mpg better than its EPA rating.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Space
If you’re in the top-tier CX-5 variants, you may believe you’ve been kidnapped by Audi or Mercedes kidnappers. Because of the superb materials and design, it gives the impression of being sophisticated.
All of the front-seat armrests are at the same height for optimal comfort, and the well-crafted steering wheel is positioned immediately in front of the driver, not at a slight angle.
The more conventional version, which is positioned above the floor, feels inferior to the floor-hinged accelerator pedal.
Its cargo capacity was reduced by one unit with the 2017 redesign, and three units were added with the back seats raised and lowered in a 2016 CX-5 we tested.
The new version’s rear section, on the other hand, is more efficient. The load floor is completely level.
There are numerous spots around the cabin where smartphones and other items can be stored. A useful bin with a removable shelf is available in the front of the center console, as well as a large tray.

Infotainment and Connectivity
The 7.0-inch display in every CX-5 is mounted above the dash, acting like a floating tablet. It has a simple user interface and rotary control built between the two front seats.

Which Used Mazda CX-5 Trim Is Right for Me?
The Mazda 2020 CX-5 has five trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature.
The Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring variants come with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive as an option, whereas the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature variants come standard.
Front-wheel drive is standard, as is a four-cylinder engine. In the final trims, there is also a turbocharged engine.
For its greatly improved comfort and technology amenities, it’s worth upgrading to the Touring trim.
Mazda CX-5 Sport
The base Sport comes equipped with a 7-inch touch screen, two USB ports, a four-speaker stereo, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and alloy wheels.
The Touring Plus comes equipped with Mazda’s Smart City Brake Assist, a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.
Mazda CX-5 Touring
The Touring edition comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control, two rear-seat USB ports, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and proximity keyless entry.
Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring
The Grand Touring comes equipped with a 10-speaker Bose audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, leather-trimmed seats with front power adjustments, paddle shifters, a moonroof, and a power liftgate.
Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve
The Grand Touring Reserve offers ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, an 8-inch touch screen, and a head-up display in addition to Mazda’s Skyactiv-G turbo-four engine and AWD. Some models include traffic sign recognition and/or navigation, which you can find.
