Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 Reviews, Pricing, and Specs

Vehicles bearing the Maybach badge, such as the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600, offer the ultimate in luxury and a caviar-rich transportation experience.

A twin-turbocharged V-8 engine sits under the hood and drives all four wheels via a standard nine-speed automatic. Power is plentiful and the GLS 600 glides along with the air suspension.

But the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is less about its powertrain and chassis and more about its padded cabin, befitting a true king, sports star, and hedge fund manager who would own one of those luxury palaces. Nappa leather, smooth wood, and other high-quality surfaces give the interior a lounge-like feel.

A pair of back chairs sit and massage you. On the downside, the GLS 600 isn’t as practical as its Benz and AMG branded counterparts, as it doesn’t come equipped with third-row seats and much less cargo space. This will not be a problem for buyers looking for its sybaritic qualities.

Introducing the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600: A Luxurious SUV with an Unbeatable Price

In the automotive world, luxury does not come cheap. Most luxury car manufacturers don’t make their vehicles available to middle-class consumers.

Instead, they make them available only to those who can afford them through the help of financing, leasing, and/or pre-ordering options.

The Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 aims to change this by offering all the quality and luxury of a Mercedes-Benz in an SUV that’s affordable for middle-class families.

Learn more about how it stacks up against other luxury SUVs in this review of the Maybach GLS 600.

Maybach GLS 600 price

The latest Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is a very luxurious SUV and starts at $162,000. The word “bargain” doesn’t really spring to mind for the Maybach model, but it competes with the Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover SVAutobiography for luxurious features and incredible performance, while costing a lot less.

If you’re looking for a quality luxury SUV, you won’t listen to people like us when deciding which option to order. Apart from that, the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 has always kept many things standard, including the semi-autonomous driving mode, Nappa leather seats, and beautiful interior and exterior trims. We encourage you to read through the various personalization options to truly make the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 your own.

Engine and Performance

Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 features a twin-turbocharged V-8 that produces 558 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, according to Mercedes Maybach. The engine is supported by a 48-volt hybrid system, which provides a little extra boost right from the start.

If that’s not fast enough for you, check out the Mercedes AMG GLS 63, which boasts a 603 horsepower version of this powertrain and jumps to 60mph in just 3.6 seconds on our test track. During our first test drive, we were impressed by the smooth running and the sovereign handling. Air suspension is standard and features a Maybach mode that eliminates bumps in the road.

Exterior Design

Despite being a little hard to pronounce, there’s no doubt that Maybach is one of those sounds that really moves people.

It connotes wealth and luxury, two attributes usually reserved for cars like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Bugatti.

Now, though, Mercedes-Benz has revealed its answer to these car company stalwarts in a new luxury SUV called (you guessed it) the Maybach GLS 600.

While most people might be left scratching their heads when they hear what kind of vehicle Mercedes is creating by merging its AMG offshoot brand with Maybach—luxury sportscars don’t seem all that close to an SUV—there are some pretty convincing reasons why it could end up becoming a runaway success.

Is Maybach better than Rolls-Royce?

If luxury means toys, then this is the Maybach you want. However, the Rolls-Royce ride is much nicer and quieter inside and feels like a better luxury car overall.

But the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is a great luxury car, better than almost anything else on the market.

For its second year on the market, the Mercedes Maybach has made no major changes to the GLS 600. That is, the luxury remains the same as last year’s model.

Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 Interior

For the interior, the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 only offers two lines, both of which offer heat and massage functions.

The back seat is where it belongs; With ample legroom and two reclining seats, driving in the back seat is akin to traveling in the airline’s most luxurious first-class cabin.

A three-across bench is also on offer, but come on, executive grooming is all about this SUV. Nappa leather covers the dashboard, door panels, and seats, while real wood trim adds a touch of class with a pretty needle line.

Fragrance diffusers help residents create the sense of oasis they deserve after a hard day’s work to get rich.

The cargo capacity here is not as large as in the regular GLS class, as the rear seats are fixed and cannot be folded to accommodate larger items.

How many people does the Maybach GLS seat?

Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is available as a standard five-seat SUV, but our review vehicle has an optional (free) executive four-seat configuration.

In the second row, you feel like sitting in a royal chair. The seat is a lounge chair, heatable and consolable with a massage function and a leather cushion attached to the head, and a matching second loose cushion.

The seats recline like a chair in a modern movie theater with extended leg rests, as long as the rear seats are pushed back and the front seats are pushed far enough forward to give legroom.

Between the rear seats in the $800 champagne flute holder on the center console. It sits atop a $1,100 champagne fridge that takes up about a sixth of the rear cargo space. But the rich pack easy, right?

Beneath the optional rear-mounted infotainment screen is a $1,800 collapsible tray, just like on an airplane, with a rubberized finish so you can safely sip bubbles while listening to Burmester’s hrönoundeprefen 27.

The tray can be positioned in portrait or landscape mode, making the couple more comfortable while working or playing. A charging pad is available for your device.

Rear passenger amenities on the center console include adjustable air vents and temperature and fan speed control lines.

Open the glossy black cover to reveal the cup holders, two of which are deep enough for a large travel mug. The touchscreen between the seats allows you to customize comfort controls and media preferences.

There’s a remote control to operate the center screen upfront, as well as a rear infotainment screen, although it’s not on the seatbacks on this particular model. The pull-out plastic carrying case accommodates the iPad, which you have to carry yourself.

Front Headroom and Legroom

The front headroom is from 38.9 to 0.2 inches, and the legroom is 44.6 to 0.4 inches for Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 Reviews, Price, and Specs.

It has a top-of-the-line stereo system that includes power seats as well as plenty of safety features like lane departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert, making it easy to get comfortable behind the wheel.

There are also a slew of storage options including roof storage bins and door storage bins so you can keep track of your belongings while driving down hills at 65 mph!

It’s been thoroughly tested by Consumer Reports who gave it five out of five stars in customer satisfaction based on customer reviews.

Trunk Space

The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is one of our favorite SUVs on today’s market. Not only does it have a 5-star safety rating, but its sheer size makes it a great choice for families and people who enjoy traveling around in style.

The car has 22 cubic feet of trunk space, which means you can take luggage on more than just weekend trips, you can use it to travel overseas or go on vacation. Its build quality also makes it extremely durable and will last for years if properly cared for.

If you’re looking for a luxury SUV that won’t break your bank account, consider getting the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. It’s spacious, safe, stylish, and practical.

Rear Headroom and Legroom

The second row of seats in a Maybach is larger than you’d expect, especially if you’re used to riding in executive-class sedans.

Headroom and legroom are both very generous, even when all seven seats are filled up. The extra inches mean that no matter who’s sitting in back, they can stretch out without feeling cramped.

They may not be able to go to sleep back there, but they can certainly get comfortable enough for several hours of travel.

If a stretched-out feeling is what you want out of your luxury car, and it sure seems like something people would enjoy, then give Mercedes a call and have them add one more Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 review.

Infotainment System

The front seats are provided with two 12.3-inch infotainment screens that use Mercedes Benz’s latest MBUX software interface.

While rear-seat passengers get two 11.6-inch screens to be able to play movies or control the sound system. A Burmester audio system is also available and has an incredible 27 speakers.

Safety Features

The Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is one of those cars that you look at and feel like it’s not just a car; it’s really more of a machine.

The overall features on it give you high levels of safety, which makes you feel safer. They have lane assistance to warn drivers when there are problems in their lane such as wildlife or debris on the road.
