Interior and comfort

interior g class

New Mercedes G Class 2021 in addition to the off-road mobility, the interior is geared towards luxury Mercedes G Wagon interior and offers more space for people and luggage than the previous generation. Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch full digital instrument panel, heated front and rear seats with leather upholstery, an electrically adjustable steering column, and three-zone automatic climate control.

While there’s no lack of space in the front or rear seats, the experience isn’t as exuberant as other premium SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga or Rolls-Royce Cullinan. However, the Benz has plenty of cargo space. The version we tested contained 16 cabin bags behind the rear row and 17 other bags with the seats folded down (33 in total).

Which is the most luxurious G-Wagon?

Mercedes G-Class known as HOFELE Ultimate HG is designed as an alternative luxury sedan. And rightly so. The two-tone paintwork consists of Range Rover’s ‘Carpathian Grey’ and Rolls-Royce’s ‘Crystal Black’, while a set of 23-inch HOFELE ‘Turbine’ Silver wheels add prestige and presence to the car. This is joined by a new grille, surrounds, headlights, and front bumper embracing the wider carbon fiber multi-contour wheel arches, while the iconic ‘waistline’ molding is now also chromed.

The most notable luxury change on the Mercedes G-Class is the “Coach Door” set. Just like the Rolls-Royce, the new rear doors open backward thanks to the placement of new hinges, allowing not only easier access but also a much grander and more refined style. The electrically mountable side ladder also contributes to the luxurious ambiance.

Inside you will find individual VIP rear seats and the entire cabin is clad in the finest Nappa and Alcantara leather. A bespoke rear center console now gives rear-seat passengers control of their unique seating position, massage, and heating functions, and more, alongside modern features like wireless device charging.

The intricate details extend to less important areas such as the trunk, which is now finished in Piano Black paint with aluminum trim. The HOFELE Ultimate HG is truly the most luxurious Mercedes-Benz G-Class ever and there is no doubt that this level of prestige comes with a hefty price tag.

Engine, transmission, and power

G-Class the powered by a twin-turbo V8 with 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, the G550 is as quick on the road as it is on the trails. Those who want an even faster G-Wagen can opt for the AMG-powered G63, which puts out 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft, but costs almost $ 25,000 more to start. All-wheel drive is standard on the G550 and its engine is powered by an obedient nine-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, Mercedes equips each G-Class with three limited-slip differentials and reduction gears so that they can master almost any terrain. This, along with adequate ground clearance and a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds, makes it a useful tool when you’re not hauling celebrities.
