2022 Mazda MX 30 | Equipped With EV And Plug-in Hybrid

2022 mazda mx 30

2022 Mazda MX 30 is the first electric vehicle, which has a sleek exterior and simple cabin but lacks sufficient reach.

The sharp exterior design features a coupe-like roofline and retractable rear doors similar to those on the BMW i3 electric car.

The Mazda SUV EV is equipped with a 30.0 kWh battery that can cover a driving range of up to 100 miles.

With a 143-horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels and acceleration are not as strong as competing EV like the Chevrolet Bolt, Ford Mustang Mach-E, or Tesla Model 3.

They all have more than double the range Mazda offers. Initially, the MX-30 will only be available for sale in California before being expanded to other states.

What’s new for Mazda MX 30 2022?

Mazda MX 30 2022 features an SUV body and an exciting spirit. A Mazda plug in hybrid variant of the MX 30 will also be available for those looking to reduce their emissions but are not yet ready to go fully electric.

The MX-30 is not only a new model for Mazda, it’s also the first time the Japanese automaker has experimented with an electric powertrain.

It’s the same size as the current CX-30 crossover but borrows the MX nomenclature from the MX 5 Miata, which is an indication that the MX-30 offers smooth handling and a pleasant ride.

2022 Mazda MX 30 Features and Performance

2022 Mazda MX 30 is designed to meet the needs of customers and offers everything to match the ideal vehicle. Charging the battery for this vehicle is also very easy and does not take much time.

It is available in the MX-30 EV and the Premium Plus trim level. This vehicle features e-Skyactiv technology to offer you a smooth driving experience.

Equipped with a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The electronic gear selector and steering wheel paddle shifters give you a traditional feel and provide a better experience.

The interior of this vehicle is elegant and pleasing to the eye. High-quality materials have been used in the vehicle to give you a luxurious feel.

The use of recycled yarn and other sustainable materials proves that the MX-30 EV is also committed to the environment.

The exterior of the vehicle is beautifully sculpted. The Freestyle doors open from the center outwards, offering passengers comfort and freedom. When you are not in the vehicle, you can check the charge status using the MyMazda app.

Mazda MX 30 Range, Charge, and Battery Life

Compared to other electric vehicles, the MX-30 30.0 kWh battery is small. The EPA estimates its range is only about 100 miles per charge, which is less than half the distance between the Bolt and Kona Electric.

The battery will be able to charge standard AC as well as more modern and faster DC chargers.

How long do electric car batteries last?

Based on our current estimates, most Mazda MX 30 EV batteries will last between 10-20 years.

However, According to a Survey By Cox Automotive, Many Prospective EV Buyers Have Objections About Battery Life and Costs Associated With Battery Replacement.

Does the mx30 have a rotary engine?

2022 Mazda MX-30 Plug-In Hybrid EV on its website. Mazda calls it a series plug-in hybrid, meaning the Wankel petrol-powered engine is not connected directly to the wheels, only providing power to charge the battery and electric motor.

All Mazda MX 30 electric models are equipped with a single 143 horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels. Four-wheel drive is not available.

However, we also know that there will be a Mazda plug in hybrid version in the future, which will pair an electric motor with a rotary petrol engine, so all-wheel-drive may still be available.

As the low horsepower figures show, the MX-30 acceleration isn’t up to par with its more powerful rivals, and on our test track, it took 8.7 seconds to hit 60 mph.

The chassis is nice and the steering is sharp, which is what we expect from a modern Mazda. This passionate handling has earned this SUV the MX in its name, a unique prefix to the brand’s Mazda MX-5 Miata sports car.

Mazda MX 30 Price

Mazda MX 30 is offered in Base and Premium Plus trim levels, but it costs more than big rivals like the Bolt and Nissan Leaf.

The Premium Plus model adds a lot of equipment, including Active Blind Spot Assist, Forward Traffic Alert, 12-speaker Bose stereo, heated steering wheel, 360-degree exterior camera system, and more.

The new 2022 Mazda MX-30 has a starting price of $33,470. As a more comprehensive Premium Plus model, the MX-30 starts at $36,480.

That means the MX-30 is a lot higher than the Nissan Leaf, which starts at $27,400 and is the MX-30’s closest competitor.

Mazda MX 30 Interior

mazda mx 30 interior

The new 2022 Mazda MX 30 EV interior uses natural and sustainable materials such as cork and seats made from recycled plastic bottles.

The front seats are enough to fit two American adults, but the rear seats are much narrower in headroom and legroom.

Floating on-trend, the center console creates storage space behind a digital display that adapts the car’s climate control system.

Mazda offers a number of standard features one would want on an MX-30, including heated front seats, a 7.0-inch digital instrument display, a power moonroof, auto-dimming mirrors, and more.

The cargo area behind the MX-30 rear seats isn’t very roomy, so a Costco trip may require folding the rear seats.

Does Mazda MX-30 have heated seats?

The MX 30 cabin comfort factor is enhanced in this Sport Lux version, as it is equipped with heated front seats and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

In addition, with the presence of a head-up display, it is easier to keep an eye on the road. Finally, the keyless entry means that you don’t have to take your keys out of your pocket.

How big is the boot on a Mazda MX-30?

Its capacity is 341 liters, larger than the Mokka-e (310 liters) or Kia Soul EV (315 liters), and increases to 1,146 liters when the 60:40 split rear seats are folded to a nearly level position.

One of the main advantages of electric cars is that there are no bulky motors, so the battery can be placed under the floor and the passenger compartment can be given more interior space.

That’s the theory. The MX-30 is an electric car that takes a different approach by retaining a long hood.

This means that while the MX-30 has a similar footprint to the VW ID.3, it offers much less space for passengers.

Mazda refers to the MX-30’s hinged rear doors as “Freestyle” doors, and they open to reveal a pillarless cabin unlike any other small SUV on the market today.

However, in terms of practicality, they might stiffen your style a bit. You might be better off thinking of it as a middle ground between a full five-door car and a three-door car.

You can only open the rear doors after the front doors are open, and while they improve access to the rear seats compared to a three-door car, getting on isn’t as easy as it is in a five-door car.

Elsewhere, the cabin is quite roomy in terms of storage provision. Behind the center of the dash is a large area with a USB socket and even a three-pin socket for charging.

A space under the armrests also provides plenty of room for belongings, and each seat gets a door pocket.

Size

At 4,395mm, the MX-30 is longer than the Vauxhall Mokka-e (4,151mm) and Kia Soul EV (4,220mm).

It splits the two in terms of width by 1,795mm compared to the Soul’s 1,800mm and the Mokka’s 1,750mm. You would never know that if you were sitting in the back as there is less space in the cabin.

Legroom, Headroom & Passenger Space

Front-seat space is decent with ample headroom for tall drivers. You can achieve a very comfortable driving position with various adjustments on the seat and steering wheel.

In retrospect, things are less extensive. The MX-30 doesn’t really have enough room for an adult to sit behind a tall rider, while even kids struggle.

There are two small windows that let in light, but they’re generally gloomy and difficult for children to see – not the most comfortable place to travel further afield.

Boot

The trunk was a pleasant surprise, especially given the space offered for rear passengers and the MX-30 sloping rear roofline.

Capacity is 341 liters, more than the Mokka-e (310 liters) or Kia Soul EV (315 liters), and expands to 1,146 liters when the 60:40 split rear seats are folded into an almost flat position.

Because of the coupe’s roofline, there’s not much extra room to stack items above the parcel shelf, and there’s nowhere else to store your charging cable other than in the trunk in the included pouch. Overall, this is a great trunk area for a small car.

Infotainment and Connectivity

In addition to the infotainment Mazda MX 30 digital panels for climate control and vehicle settings, a secondary 8.8-inch display emerges from the dashboard to cover infotainment functions such as the audio system, navigation, and rearview camera.

The MX-30 uses Mazda’s latest infotainment interface, introduced on the 3 Series sedan and hatchback, and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

How do you use Mazda CX 30 Infotainment?

How to use Mazda MX 30 infotainment is to press and hold while the Mazda Connect screen is displayed to switch the screen from Mazda Connect to Apple CarPlay or Mazda Connect to Android Auto.

Also, while on the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto™ screen, press and hold to switch to the Mazda Connect screen.

Does Mazda MX-30 have Apple CarPlay?

This means you can use the system while driving and keep an eye on the road. The MX-30 comes standard with built-in satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and an eight-speaker stereo.

GT Sport Tech upper trim adds a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system. It also breaks ID.
