Both the sedan and hatchback versions of the Mazda 3 are stunning, nimble, and versatile.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2023 Mazda 3 Hatchback comes in different engines, the first of which is a base 191-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
The front-wheel drive system is standard on this engine, but the all-wheel drive system is available on the Carbon Edition and Premium trims.
Only the most expensive trims come with a 250-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. If front-wheel drive is chosen, the car comes with a six-speed manual. A six-speed automatic gearbox is necessary for the all-wheel drive system.
Only the turbocharged engine makes the 3 satisfyingly quick, despite the fact that all three engines respond readily to gas pedals.

Fuel Economy
The new Mazda 3 Hatchback with the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder got EPA ratings of 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, making it the most fuel-efficient Mazda 3.
With 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, the turbocharged hatchback with all-wheel drive is the least fuel efficient.
On our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, we tested an all-wheel-drive automatic-equipped sedan with the non-turbo 2.5-liter, which achieved an excellent 41 mpg.
We also drove a comparable hatchback that exceeded its highway rating by 2 mpg (34 mpg shown).

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The interior of the Mazda 3 hatchback was carefully constructed using high-quality materials. A range of desired characteristics is available for both body types, although the finest ones are linked to the trim level.
For example, the topmost trims come equipped with a head-up display, heated front seats, and leather upholstery.
Although, the seats and passenger amenities in the three sedans and hatchbacks are supportive.
However, because the curved design takes precedence over the line of sight, the two-box design has the worst rear visibility of a compact hatchback.
The Mazda 3 sedan, with its larger cargo capacity of six carry-on bags versus five hatches, is better for those who need more storage space in the back. With the rear seats folded, they each have 16 bags.

Infotainment
