New Mazda 3 2022 Review, Price, Specs, and More

New Mazda 3 2022 is the latest model in the lineup to receive the Carbon Black Edition. The Carbon Edition package is offered on the Mazda 3 sedan and Mazda 3 hatchback.

Both of which come with Polymetal Gray paint, red leather upholstery, and a range of black exterior elements such as the grille surround, wheels, and mirror caps.

Carbon Edition also offers content from the mid-range Preferred equipment, including a 12-speaker Bose stereo system.

Elsewhere, the 3 carries over to 2022 with no changes save for the new Platinum Quartz Metallic paint option. Mazda 3 is also known as a compact car with a quality interior, sporty handling, and stylish exterior.

In 2021, Mazda will introduce two engines to complement its Mazda 3 lineup: a 2.0-liter to make the base price more attractive and a powerful 2.5-liter turbo for those wanting a premium to want performance.

And it still offers a solid mid-range non-turbo 2.5-liter engine. As a bonus for buyers living in cold and wet climates, the Mazda 3 is even available with all-wheel drive.

We also give good marks to the Hyundai Elantra and the Kia Forte. Check out our expert reviews to read our test team’s full review of the Mazda 3 and help you decide which small Mazda 3 sedan or Mazda 3 hatchback is best for you.

How to drive Mazda 3 2022?

2022 mazda 3 release date

Mazda always attaches great importance to excellent driving characteristics, and this is also the case with this new Mazda 3 2022.

When the road ends in a straight line, the Mazda 3 offers comfortable handling and inspires confidence. Feels balanced, changes direction easily, and maintains control in turns.

The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is pulsating and delivers smooth power right from the start, but it only starts in the mid-range.

The junction with the Autobahn is not a problem. In our testing, our all-wheel-drive Mazda 3 sedan sped from 0-60 mph in a pretty fast 8.3 seconds.

Want more? The optional 2.5-liter turbocharged engine certainly delivered, cutting the 0-60mph time to 6.1 seconds in our track test versus the Mazda 3 hatchback.

It was a whole new ball game. It’s also refined, with plenty of boost at its disposal. Just a gentle push of the throttle allows for easy overtaking and connecting.

How much does a brand new Mazda 3 cost?

Mazda 3 price and specifications of the Mazda3. The Mazda 3 is available in hatchback and sedan types for the 2022 model line from $26,340 to $42,490.

Mazda 3 hatchback is alluring for its distinctive looks, but the rounded tailgate obscures the view. Instead, we’ll stick with the limousine.

If you want an all-wheel drive you can add it to most trims for $1400. Just by selecting the desired trim level, you will get standard features such as heated front seats and a powered driver’s seat with memory settings.

Mazda 3 2022 Price by Model Type:

  • Base: $21,815
  • 2.5 S: $22,765
  • Select: $24,115
  • Preferred: $25,765
  • Carbon Edition: $27,415
  • Premium: $28,365
  • Turbo: $31,565
  • Turbo Premium Plus: $34,115

What kind of engine does a Mazda3 have?

Mazda offers three different four-cylinder engines 3 starting with the 2.0-liter in the base sedan. It produces 155 hp and is only equipped with front-wheel drive.

Upgrading to a 186hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine unlocks the optional all-wheel-drive system, but we’re most pleased with the 250hp 2.5-liter turbocharged engine.

Buyers can get a six-speed manual, but only if they stick with front-wheel drive. Opting for an all-wheel-drive system requires a six-speed automatic transmission.

While every 3 Series easily responds to accelerator input, only the turbocharged engine makes a satisfying 3 Series fast.

We haven’t tested the new turbo engine yet, but we expect a big increase in performance over the other two.

Both the Mazda 3 hatchback and sedan have a structured feel on straight and winding roads and offer a smooth ride quality. We commend the new Mazda 3 for retaining the driving pleasure of the previous model.

It has firm body control, a natural-feeling steering wheel, and a solid ride that manages not to punish passengers on rough roads.

Is the Mazda 3 fuel-efficient?

The most fuel-efficient Mazda 3 is the sedan, with a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gets EPA city and 36 mpg city and 36 mpg ratings.

An upgrade to a more powerful non-turbo 2.5-liter engine brings those numbers down – but not by much – to 26mpg city and 35mpg highway.

The all-wheel-drive turbocharged hatchback is the most fuel-efficient at 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway ratings.

We tested the sedan’s all-wheel-drive automatic with a non-turbo 2.5-liter engine on our fuel-efficient 200-mile motorway route and it delivered an incredible 41mpg.

We also tested the Mazda 3 hatchback with similar equipment, which beat the highway rating by 2mpg (for a 34mpg observation). The front-wheel-drive stick-shift 3 delivers 38mpg (3 more than expected).
