The Mazda only comes with a 184-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder. It revs reasonably smoothly and with enthusiasm to its 6000-rpm redline, despite the fact that rivals provide more engine choices and more powerful engines.
Both the conventional six-speed manual and the optional six-speed automatic are fantastic. Despite this, the 6.0 requires a more powerful engine option or turbocharger.
Despite this, driving the mid-size sedan is our favorite. Mazda manages to keep the thrills while maintaining the refinement and ride quality.

The synthetic leather in the Touring trim is convincing. While bigger people may find the seats on the narrow side, they provide excellent support and remain comfortable for many hours on the road.
With enough headroom and legroom for taller adults, the rear seats are notably comfortable.
One of our favorite features in the Mazda 6 is the Mazda Connect infotainment system. It resembles many luxury automobiles in that it features a gigantic tablet-like display and a center dial controller.
The menus are easy to read and understand, and they keep the driver’s attention on the road. The display may only be used as a touchscreen while the car is stationary.
Although the bins and pockets are not particularly large, your personal items are well-stored. The same applies to cargo space, with a 14.8-cubic-foot trunk that is somewhat smaller than usual for the class.
Thankfully, the trunk opening is huge, and distant seatback release buttons make loading bigger objects even simpler.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Mazda’s infotainment system has the tactile and visual impact to impress, with a control knob at its core.
The touch panel on the dashtop is also a touchscreen, however, it only works when the car is stationary. The menus it controls aren’t as straightforward to use as the knob itself is, which is a pity.
A 7.0-inch color touchscreen, USB port, auxiliary input jack, voice-control capability, and Bluetooth are all standard on every Mazda 6.
The Mazda 6 lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at any trim level, however, it does have navigation as standard on the Grand Touring model.
The 2017 Mazda6 received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which earned high marks in all categories.
